Prep to negotiate — salary, rent or a big bill

Walk in ready. AI helps you build your case, anticipate the pushback, and find the words so you don’t freeze.

The short answer

Tell the AI what you're negotiating and your situation, and have it build your case, rehearse the other side's objections, and script your key lines. You walk in calm and prepared instead of winging it — and the numbers and the relationship stay yours to manage.

Most people lose a negotiation before it starts, simply by not preparing. They know what they want but not how to ask, and they freeze the moment they hit resistance. AI is a tireless rehearsal partner that fixes both: it helps you find your real leverage, practise the awkward moments until they feel normal, and have the right words ready when your mind goes blank.

It will not negotiate for you, and it should not — the relationship and the judgement are human work. But it will get you to the table sharper than you have ever been, which is usually the whole game.

Build your case

Get clear on what you want and why it is reasonable before any conversation. A calm, well-evidenced ask lands far better than a hopeful one, and AI helps you assemble it fast.

  1. 1Tell the AI what you want and the full context.
  2. 2Ask it to build your strongest, honest case.
  3. 3Get your one-line ask, said simply and confidently.
  4. 4Decide your walk-away point in advance.

Rehearse the pushback

The deal is won or lost in the objections. Practise them out loud with the AI playing the other side, so nothing catches you cold and you have a calm response ready for each one.

  1. 1Ask the AI to role-play the other person realistically.
  2. 2Have it raise the toughest objections, one at a time.
  3. 3Practise your responses until they feel natural.
  4. 4Refine the lines that came out shaky.

Copy-paste prompts

promptRole-play as my [boss / landlord / the company]. Push back on my request the way they realistically would, one objection at a time, and let me respond before the next.
promptThey said: “[their objection]”. Give me 3 calm ways to respond that keep things moving toward yes.
promptWhat objections am I not preparing for? List them, and a strong response for each.

Script the moment

Have your opening line, your responses and a graceful close ready — so when the pressure hits, you simply follow the plan instead of improvising. Confidence here is mostly preparation wearing a calm face.

  1. 1Script your opening line — warm, clear, not aggressive.
  2. 2Prepare responses to your top 3 objections.
  3. 3Have a graceful close ready for either outcome.
  4. 4Keep it human — it’s a conversation, not a battle.

Copy-paste prompts

promptWrite my opening line for this negotiation — confident, warm, and not aggressive. Context: [paste].
promptGive me a polite but firm way to hold my position if they lowball me.
promptWrite two closes: how I’d graciously accept, and how I’d graciously decline while leaving the door open.
promptGive me three things to never say in this negotiation, and what to say instead.
💡 AI is your sparring partner, not the decision-maker. Keep the relationship and your real limits front of mind — the goal is a deal you’re genuinely happy with and can live with afterwards, not just a short-term “win”.
